Steven Koniuk is both a licensed professional engineer and a registered architect, a rare combination that lets one principal own a project’s design, structure, and building systems from feasibility through construction administration. He became Owner and President of SCA in 2024 and leads the Konstruct platform, which joins SCA with in-house engineering.
He is known for building and managing project teams, keeping communication open with owners and consultants, and delivering work on time. As architect and engineer of record for multifamily developments across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, his work spans zoning analysis, code strategy, structural and foundation design, support of excavation, MEP systems, and energy compliance, with approvals guided through DOB, DEP, DOT, MTA, and other public agencies.
Before leading SCA, he built and led the structural engineering department in the New York office of Bala Consulting Engineers, managing projects for the MTA, NYCT, PANYNJ, and NYPD. His own experience as a real estate developer, along with a working knowledge of tax abatement and financing programs such as 421a and PILOT, keeps design decisions tied to budget, schedule, and field execution.
