The Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center needed existing second floor space turned into lab suites ready for a biotech tenant, without disrupting the companies already at work in the building. The new tissue culture lab sat directly above a first floor tissue lab, so every system had to tie into what was already there.
We laid out Labs 9 and 10 as one large lab with mobile cabinets and multiple sinks, so the tenant can reconfigure benches as its research changes, along with a dedicated tissue culture room and two offices. Architecture, HVAC, lab plumbing and piping, fire sprinkler, and electrical were coordinated in one set, with tie-ins to the existing service, lab equipment connections, lighting, and fire alarm devices planned around the lab layout.
Permit and construction documents for flexible, code compliant lab space, with our design work completed by January 2025. The center now has move-in ready labs it can lease to growing life science companies.
