The challenge

The developer is building toward more than 10,000 units nationwide and needed townhouse designs that repeat efficiently while still fitting each site. Every one-off variation adds cost across the whole program.

Our approach

We developed a small set of unit plans and building configurations that combine into 26 structures, kept wall, window, and framing dimensions consistent from building to building, and coordinated finishes and products with the developer's national material suppliers so pricing and procurement carry over from one community to the next.

The result

146 townhouses documented from a common set of building types, giving the developer a design it can price with confidence and reuse on future communities, including the Shelburne Road apartments in Vermont.
